Site Evaluations
There are 39 sites, covering nearly 90 acres, in the Butte Priority Soils Operable Unit (BPSOU) that may have been impacted by historic mining activities and may require reclamation. In the proposed remedy, each of these sites would be evaluated by Atlantic Richfield Company to determine if they were impacted by past mining and if they present a risk to human health or the environment. If so, the sites would be reclaimed.
Site Reclamation
Any reclamation and other construction activities that are performed by Atlantic Richfield Company at these sites would be conducted under the direction of the EPA, in consultation with MDEQ. This work may include import and placement of additional soil, revegetation, and/or construction of stormwater controls, which may include additions or upgrades to any curbs and gutters around the site.
